Book and Nature Club
PEF’s Book & Nature Club has been around since July 2010. A weekly initiative, it is open to all age groups. PEF has a collection of 300 books related to nature and environment. We also have more than 40 documentaries. The aim is to bring together like minded people and facilitate dialogue on environmental and wildlife related topics. No matter the age….
We have 2 Clubs in Pune, Aundh and Koregaon Park.
In Aundh, PEF runs two clubs, kids and grownups. Every month we select a theme and have related activities. We have had bird watching, global warming, mammals, map reading and more. We take field trips once a month to various places.
PEF also has a weekly session for grownups. It’s so easy to put the burden on our children saying they are the future! What about us? So often a kid is keen to throw their chocolate wrapper in the dustbin, but the parents do not have the time to find one….Kids are very aware these days. Thanks to all the different mediums. It was the older generation that was never sensitized to environment and wildlife. And it is the older generation who has the power to get up and make a difference. Kids need to seek permission! Our grownups club screens documentaries, talks and presentations by experts, discussions and activities.
The Club in Koregaon Park is a kid’s only club and functions weekly. Along with similar stuff as Aundh, the KP Club also does arts and crafts with children. The children paint, create and make wonderful new things from household waste like boxes, paper, cartons and the likes.
